Farmers in drought-hit Queensland and New South Wales are to benefit from a Government funding package worth $320 million.
Prime Minister Tony Abbott announced the package with Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce.
The plan will give affected farmers much easier access to income support, bigger concessional loans, funding for programs to help people in "personal crisis", to eradicate feral animals and to build water infrastructure.
"There are no magic wands but we will do what we can to help in difficult times," Mr Abbott said.
Mr Joyce says the situation is completely different to the regular dry periods farmers expect.
