The Army is on its way to Broome in northern Western Australia to assess and dispose of what appears to be a World War Two Japanese hand grenade. The object was found alongside spent ammunition at a Broome beach last week by a local family, who took the items home and researched them. They handed the items in to police when they realised one resembled a 1941 hand grenade.
