33 killed in stabbing rampage at Chinese train station

At least 33 people have been killed and more than 130 injured a "violent terrorist attack" at a train station in the south-western Chinese city of Kunming.

Knife-wielding attackers dressed in black burst into the station on Saturday (local time) and began slashing indiscriminately, according to state media.

Police shot dead five of the attackers at the train station, and are "chasing the rest".

Yang Haifei, who was wounded in the chest and back, has told Xinhua he was buying a train ticket when the attackers approached.

"I saw a person come straight at me with a long knife and I ran away with everyone," he said, while others "simply fell on the ground".
