Four orange items considered "the most promising leads" yet in the search for MH370 are in fact fishing equipment, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) has confirmed.
An Australian Defence Force P3 Orion aircraft yesterday flew over the objects, each larger than two metres in size, and within a five-nautical-mile area within the search zone.
The confirmation comes as the Ocean Shield, an Australian Navy vessel equipped with US devices to locate the flight data recorders from the Malaysia Airlines jet, readies to leave port.
The specialist equipment was flown in from the US and is undergoing final testing before the Ocean Shield leaves for the search zone.
