A New Zealand aircraft spotted objects late on Friday in the search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, just hours after the search zone shifted closer to the West Australian coast.
The Boeing 777 is thought to have crashed on March 8 with 239 people on board, including six Australians, after flying thousands of kilometres off course.
A Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) Orion spotted the unidentified objects within the new search area, with the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) saying the sightings will need to be confirmed by ship, a process expected to begin on Saturday.
Meanwhile, relatives of the Chinese passengers on board the missing plane have demanded China mount its own inquiry into the aircraft's disappearance.
