Egypt's newly elected president Abdel Fattah al-Sisi says he respects the independence of the country's judiciary and will not interfere with court verdicts.

Speaking in a televised speech at a military graduation ceremony, Mr al-Sisi said judicial rulings must be respected and not criticised, even if others do not understand them.
