Shaw expulsion motion expected to fail

Posted by Unknown on Wednesday, 3 September 2014

The Victorian Government will move to expel balance-of-power independent Geoff Shaw from Parliament, despite not having the numbers to win the vote.

The Government said the Frankston MP was not sincere when he apologised to Parliament on Tuesday for misusing his entitlements, and will seek his expulsion.

The debate on the motion will begin later this morning and Premier Denis Napthine will be the first to speak.

It is a dramatic about-face for both the Government and Opposition, who held opposite views on Mr Shaw's expulsion in June.
