Student leaders whose pro-democracy protests have bought Hong Kong to a standstill have agreed to meet with the government to discuss their demands.
Hong Kong chief executive CY Leung called for talks between his chief secretary and protesters following a week of pro-democracy demonstrations.
He said Carrie Lam will represent him at the talks, an invitation in an open letter submitted by the Hong Kong Federation of Students.
CY Leung also refused to stand down, a demand of the protesters and their Thursday deadline, saying "I will not resign".
